Our mission is to assist disadvantaged youth in our community by serving as role models, organizing activities that promote higher education and providing scholarships to instill hope in our youth.
Mandilón Incorporated is committed to eradicating barriers to higher education for Latino youth in our community. We, the members of Mandilón Inc. will support our community and youth through providing financial assistance and services to students in the Watsonville area. Our organization conducts fundraisers in the local community to assist high school and college students who demonstrate financial need in pursuing degrees of higher education.
We believe in addressing student issues as a whole, including family, community, and cultural issues.
Who We Are
Mandilón Inc. is an organization that was originally founded in 1990 in the city of Watsonville, CA. Our organization consists of approximately 20 experienced professionals who grew up in the Watsonville area. We started out as a group of friends that were concerned about the barriers to higher education in our community. We founded Mandilón Inc. to provide services to address these issues and come together to give back to our community. Throughout our time as a non-profit we have developed various fundraisers to help raise money to address the issues in our local area: Polladas (chicken sales), Charreada (rodeo festival), dances and golf tournaments.

Issues We Face
Many of our Latino youth have been struggling to finish high school due to institutionalized marginalization and the obstacles that come from it. A very high drop-out rate, gang involvement, drug use and an increase in youth pregnancies are just a few of the factors that are affecting our youth today.
All of these community issues add more problems and stress to our already vulnerable youth. As a result, obtaining a degree of higher education, often considered the “American Dream,” has become the “Impossible Dream.”
Our organization is founded upon community involvement and coalition building. This means we need YOUR help! Please contact us to make a donation or to speak with a member to find out more about how you can be involved.
