Many of our Latino youth have been struggling to finish high school due to extreme barriers and obstacles. A very high drop out rate, gang involvement, drug use and an increase in youth pregnancies are just a few of the factors that are affecting our youth today.
The real estate market problem in our area has definitely created a more unpleasant situation for many of our youth. Parents are losing or have lost their homes which they got with their life savings. Parents are becoming ill, tired, stressed and depressed, many are losing or have lost their jobs and others are considering moving or have moved to a more affordable area.
All of this in turn has meant adding more problems and stress to our already troubled youth. A college Education which was considered the “American Dream” has become the “Impossible Dream”.
